Match Report
First midweek match of the season and we were rewarded by a glorious evening. The Crusaders must have been inspired by it because they put in one of their best team performances of the year. Joseph had got over his frustrations from the last game to put in a towering display of determination and stamina which earned him the man-of-the match trophy. He covered every blade of grass and seemed to inspire his team mates to do the same. Samuel and Tom proved willing assistants in the engine room and the defence of Alex/James, Chris and Lewis were disciplined and strong. It was unusual for the defence to outshine the attack but it made a pleasant change for us to earn Bill his first clean sheet of the season.
The game was not without incident with a Warriors defender giving away an early penalty for handball. Matthew struck the penalty well but the keeper guessed correctly and made a fine save low to his right. Tom then scored his first goal to spare Matthew's blushes with a confident finish from a tight angle. The Warriors were not down hearted and continued to press forward bringing out the best in Bill and the defence. They nearly scored twice from near post corners which Bill managed to claw away from under the bar. Just before the break Tom got his second, poaching at the far post after Kingsley had lobbed the ball back into the box.
The second half was keenly contested with the referee having to have a word with both teams as frustrations boiled over resulting in a string of niggly fouls. The Warriors were becoming more desperate now and began shooting on sight but Bill was more than up to the challenge. Tom completed another hat-trick 2 minutes from the end after a fine pass by Matthew but by then the fight had gone out of the Warriors.

Final Score- Crusaders 3-0 Warriors.
