Match Report
Fresh from their midweek break Chris and James joined us for this trip to Hindley.
Unfortunately it was another poor pitch and the Crusaders took a while to get used to it. The Sharks were getting the bulk of the possession and were consistently threatening the Crusaders goal, Bill having to be on top form to keep the scoresheet blank. It couldn't last and midway through the half the Sharks bagged three goals in four disastrous minutes as the Crusaders failed to clear the ball. Bill was called into action a few more times before another failed clearance fell to a Sharks' boot and found its way into the net.
After an inspirational team talk by Martin a different team took to the pitch, one that was prepared to battle for the ball and put the Sharks under pressure. Joseph popped in his second in two games just after the restart and Matthew was tirelessly working his wing despite a dodgy ankle but a defensive howler allowed the Sharks to net their fifth with 20 minutes left. This seemed to spur on the Crusaders rather than dispirit them and Joseph, buoyed by his goal set off on a powerful run only to be unfairly halted about twenty yards out. Paul, just back on after some treatment floated the resulting free kick over the wall and the keeper only managed to get a despairing fingertip to it. The Crusaders roared on and the Sharks began to wilt; Tom hit the post and Paul shot weakly at the keeper before he popped up in the box to turn in Matthew's cross (5-3). The Crusaders were sensing a shock now and continued to press, a good shout for a penalty was turned down before in the last minute the keeper failed to gather Matthew's shot and Paul completed his hat-trick by tucking the ball into the far corner. It was just too late and the Sharks held on, but they sportingly admitted that we had not deserved to lose. Hat-trick hero Paul just pipped Bill and Matthew to the Man-of-the Match.

Final Score:- Sharks 5-4 Crusaders.

MOM- Paul.
