Match Report
At last the win we have deserved for so long.
The beautiful surface at Atherton seems to suit the boys, probably because of all the training on astroturf. The Crusaders started as brightly as the weather that morning and made numerous chances but without scoring. They were punished after 11 minutes with a Panthers goal against the run of play. The Crusaders hit back almost straight away with Paul poaching a goal after Matthew and Tom had had shots blocked. The Panthers scored again before Tom equalised to leave the scores level at half-time.
The Crusaders began the second half well and were soon back in the lead when Jack scored with a delicate touch from Paul's clever pass. Bill made a splendid save from a penalty that had to be retaken and Paul and Tom each scored their second before the Panthers hit back after a rare defensive blunder. By this time the Crusaders were totally dominant with Tom grabbing his hat-trick and Matthew scoring to make it seven in the dying minutes.
It was really difficult to choose a man-of-the match with so many good performances but Paul who caused the Panthers so many problems on the left wing won it ahead of hat-trick hero Tom.
