Match Report
A tight, top-of-the-table match which was enlivened by some erratic refereeing which fortunately didn't favour one team over the other.
The first controversial incident occurred in the 12th minute when Seth Leese was adjudged to have committed a foul in the area despite seeming to have made no contact. The resultant spot-kick was confidently put away. The Crusaders had a confident penalty shout turned down and then were awarded a free kick when everyone but the ref thought it should have been a throw to Little Lever. The attempt to give the ball back nearly went wrong when Tom Oakes didn't follow the script and nearly scored. The Crusaders prodded and probed but couldn't find the decisive pass and Little Lever always looked dangerous on the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first but just after the hour mark Seth latched onto a ball that bounced across the area and hit a looping shot into the far corner. Will Owen kept the Crusaders moving forward but only a few chances were created. With time running out Paul Speed picked out Jack Ayres in an advanced position, Jack laid the ball into Tom's path. His mazey run was followed by by a short pass to Curtis Fletcher who side-footed past the keeper. The Crusaders were then able to run the clock down for an important win.
Will built on last week's impressive performance and won man-of-the match ahead of his midfield partner Jack and the two goal-scorers.
Final score Crusaders 2-1 Little Lever.
