Match Report
An entertaining and well contested game decided by CMB's superior defending.
A poor 10 minutes by the Crusaders at the start of the second half gave CMB the advantage they held on to despite a sprited fightback.
The highlights were a delighful lob over Nathan for CMB's first, Paul's wonderful volley which required an equally good save to keep it out and Seth's first goal for the team, a left footed half-volley which curled into the far corner.
Bill equalised in the first half and the hosts restored their lead before half time. Three unanswered goals for CMB folowed the break, then Matthew, Sam and Seth struck back. As the final minute approached CMB relieved the pressure by grabbing their sixth.
The scoreline reflected the performance. The Crusaders defence underperformed panicking under pressure and failing to clear effectively on too many occasions. The three debutants performed well, Nathan was strong in goal; even though he conceeded 6 he wasn't really at fault for any of them, making a couple of fine saves.Seth overcame a nervy start to almost earn man-of-the-match and Cal looked lively on the wing. Indeed it was the midfield that shone and the final choice was between Matthew, Seth, Jack Ayres and Bill and the management team felt that Bill just edged it in the final reckoning.
Final score CMB 6-4 Crusaders.
