Match Report
An Ash Hutton hat-trick was the cornerstone of this win which was not as comfortable as the scoreline would suggest.
Struggling for numbers Moor had to start the match with 10 and almost immediately went behind to a classic poacher's goal by Sam. The Crusaders failed to build on this and wasted a number of opportunities before the hosts drew level; breaking the offside trap to create a one on one with Clayton. The visitors continued to spurn good chances and were grateful to Ash who restored the lead with a clever chip over the keeper and then Sam who got his second when unmarked in the box. The home team hit back just before the break; there was a whiff of offside about it but it was no more than they deserved.
The second half was more comfortable for the Crusaders as Halshaw Moor began to tire and were unable to freshen up by bringing on a substitute. Ash grabbed his second just after the break and it remained reasonably tight until the hour mark when Ash completed his hat-trick as the keeper could only palm his corner into the net. Matthew wasted a couple of good chances before taking one with a neat volley from Mat's cross, then Paul rounded the keeper to make it 7. Paul then set up Sam for his hat-trick with a brilliant dribble and cross but Sam put the header over the bar. Jack Ayres rounded off the scoring with a solo effort just before the final whistle.
Apart from some defensive lapses this was a good all round team performance. Matthew and Jack were again strong in midfield and Mat and Paul dangerous on the wings, Mat providing 3 assists. Taylor continues to improve covering well and Cameron and Lewis worked effectively as a pair. Sam and Ash did all we could ask of strikers by scoring 5 goals between them and it was Ash who won MOTM for his all round contribution to the victory.
Final score Halshaw Moor 3-8 Crusaders.
