Match Report
We were hopeful of three points against the mid-table Blues but were undone by an incredible 4 shots that dipped under the bar but over Bill's head. When you concede one like that you feel unlucky but FOUR!! I think they must have been practising??
The first half was fairly even with the Blues just edging it on shots but Paul was the only one to make his count giving the Crusaders the lead with a smartly-taken left footed effort.
The half-time talk emphasised the need to take notice of the defensive deficiences of the first half which luckily went unpunished and for the first 15 minutes it looked like note had been taken. Kingsley made it 2-0 touching in Paul's corner and Joseph added another via a big deflection. Tom was making a nuisance of himself getting into good positions but twice finding himself on his weaker shooting foot and Paul was always a threat on the left but the turning point came with 15 minutes left and Dylan's first lob over Bill. The second came a minute later along with a confidence and aggression that spilled over into intimidation of both the Crusaders and the referee. The result was that the Crusaders lost shape and control of the game and allowed Dylan the space and time to draw the Blues level. The defensive frailties showed up again when Chris and Bill allowed James to nip between them to score. Tom was then upended in the box which resulted I an unsavoury 60 seconds as most of the Blues' players tried to get the referee to change his mind by refusing to clear the area. Tom kept his cool to slot home to make it 4-4 and we prepared ourselves to share the points. Unfortunately a needless free-kick was conceded and Dylan repeated his party-trick to win the game.
With 5 goals conceded it was unlikely that a defender would be man-of-the -match. The attackers however had nothing to reproach themselves for Paul and Sam were a constant threat and Kingsley did all that could be asked of him with his goal but Tom edged it with his cool and brave score from the spot.
Final Score:- Crusaders 4-3 Moss Bank Blues.
